The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which traded up more than 500 points, closed up 319.92 points, or 1.2%, at 26,816.59, while the S&P 500 advanced 1.1% to 2970.27, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 1.3% to 8057.04. 3:46 p.m. The Dow Jones Industrial Average finally traded with a 5-handle after President Donald Trump confirmed that the U.S. had reached a “phase one” trade deal with China—and then dropped back to where it had been trading.
